Team Test Preparation
ADVANCED STUDY
SAT Reasoning Test Preparation Course

As a part of the Cardinal Newman High School Summer School, Team Test Preparation offers an extended test preparation course for students needing extra instruction and coaching to maximize scores on the SAT Reasoning Test.  The SAT Reasoning Test is three hours and 45-minutes long and has three major sections:  critical reading, writing and math.  Previously, the old SAT Test was three hours long and had two major sections:  verbal and math.

The course is individualized (as much as possible) to meet the needs of each student.  Our goal is to set up an individual plan for each student to maximize their SAT Reasoning Test score.  Thus, the following is included in the course:

  • A diagnosis of each student's strengths and weaknesses on the SAT Reasoning Test.
  • Practice in answering SAT test questions in all three major sections.
  • Creating a study plan for each student between the course date and the next test date. (October)
  • Homework each day - 2 hours in length, taking actual SAT practice tests.

The course will involve instruction in (as needed by students):

  • Review of grammar skills needed for reading and writing sections.
  • Review of all math skills and the advanced algebra skills included on the test.
  • Techniques/hints to improve scores on all three sections of the test:  critical reading, writing and math.

NOTE: The past five summers in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 have been great experiences for Team Test Preparation and the 45 students we have taught.  Students realized substantial gains in their SAT test scores, several increased their scores in the 200-300 point range. Austin Head (quote on the home page) was one of our students in 2008. Another one our Advanced Study students got an 800 score on the Writing Section.
